Visiting the Pyramids of Giza without a guide is perfectly doable and, with a bit of preparation, just as good as any organised tour. You go at your own pace, save money and — most importantly — avoid pointless shopping detours. Can you really go without a guide?

Yes. The site is signposted, the main monuments are obvious, and there's staff at every entrance. When a guide does help:

The night before: prep everything
