Who writes Cairo Stay Finder
Cairo Stay Finder is written and edited by a small, independent team of travellers who know Cairo first-hand. We are not a travel agency, a content farm or a faceless aggregator: the guides here are written by the same people who have walked these streets, haggled in the bazaar, queued for the Pyramids at opening time and slept in the neighbourhoods we describe.
Our experience with Egypt
- We have travelled to Cairo many times, across different seasons and on very different budgets — from hostel dorms Downtown to Nile-view rooms in Garden City.
- We speak Arabic, which means we get the real prices, hear what taxi drivers actually say, and read the signs, menus and museum labels most visitors can't.
- We visit the places we write about. Every monument, museum, mosque, church and neighbourhood guide on this site is based on having physically been there — not on rewriting Wikipedia.
How we research and write
- Bilingual, by hand. Every article is written in both English and Spanish by a person — never machine-translated. Each language version is edited on its own.
- Specific and current. We use real prices in Egyptian pounds, real opening hours, real addresses and real travel times, and we revisit them as the city changes.
- Honest. If a place is overrated, crowded or a tourist trap, we say so. If an area has downsides — noise, distance, hassle — we list them. We'd rather lose a click than send you somewhere you'll regret.
- No AI filler. We write from our own knowledge and notes. We don't publish auto-generated text to pad out a page.
How we fact-check
Before a guide goes live we cross-check the practical details — ticket prices, opening days, transport options, scam warnings — against official sources, recent on-the-ground reports and our own most recent visits. When something is likely to change (prices, especially), we say so and give a range or a date rather than a falsely precise figure.
How we keep guides up to date
Cairo moves fast: the Grand Egyptian Museum, new metro lines, shifting ticket prices. We update existing guides rather than leaving stale ones online, and we show the publication date — and, where relevant, a last-updated date — on every article so you know how fresh the information is.
How the site is funded — and why it doesn't bias us
Cairo Stay Finder is free to use. Some hotel links are affiliate links (mainly Booking.com): if you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That commission never decides which hotels we list or in what order — the full criteria are in How we pick hotels. We recommend what we'd recommend to a friend.
